I didn't know Scott McGill and Vic Stevens before they called me to ask about playing on this CD, but when they sent me some of their records I was blown away! These guys are definitely monsters and I couldn't believe that I hadn't heard of them before.

Fortunately, Scott is a very intelligent, organized composer and he sent me complete, written music for the CD before the sessions. I say "fortunately" because the stuff he writes is HARD! [When playing with Scott and Vic, Michael actually has to sight read some of his parts!—M@] Having a chance to work on it beforehand was nice because it allowed us to get good takes of the tunes right away, even though we had never played together. That left us plenty of time to improvise and experiment, which was especially fun because Scott and Vic have so many cool ideas and the chops to play anything.

Someone described our music as intense, unapologetic fusion and I think that fits. It's some of the most challenging music I've ever played. We've done several shows together since recording and it a real pleasure to play with such advanced, sophisticated musicians who are also great guys. I think we'll be doing lots more.
